I’ve been hacked!
My facebook account was hacked recently and my account has been permanently disabled. This came as quite a shock and although I’m embarrassed to admit, I was quite stressed by the whole thing as I consider facebook as part of my business. I was using facebook to promote my work but thankfully I hadn’t invested too much of my time on this platform. The idea that a tool that I was using for my business can just be taken away at the click of a finger without any control over it, makes me feel quite vulnerable. It has really made me question what it is I am doing on social media. Is it really the best place to share my work and gain a loyal community of folk who support what I’m doing? As a self-employed musician and artist, I do use these platforms to share what I am doing and it does really help to spread the word. I actually use Instagram a lot more than facebook anyway but they are both run by meta so I don’t feel particularly safe on this platform either now. Instagram may be disabled soon also!
With this in mind, I am determined to focus more on my newsletter going forward. My mailing list subscribers are my true and loyal community and I appreciate this more than ever now. Thank you so much to all my subscribers and please, if you are not signed up, join me here now! I generally write a short newsletter each month keeping folk up to date with what I am up to. I intend to give much more to this update, sneak previews, exclusive videos, free downloads and behind the scenes content. I appreciate this direct interaction with my community and this is something I am keen to build on. What would you like to see more of? Please do let me know in the comments below. I’d love to hear more about what it is that is interesting to you!
I absolutely love making new music and art and it is getting increasingly harder to be seen and heard in this world of constant noise. I work hard to make work that matters and sparks joy and I’d love to keep sharing it around the world. I have always said I’d much rather have a much smaller and loyal community of supporters than lots of surface level followers. Folk with a genuine love of music and art and this stunning place that I live in. You are my community. Please do join me on this journey of life in the Highlands as a visual artist and musician. You can sign up to my mailing list here!
Thanks again,
